1
Unbox & Inspect

Inspect packaging. Ensure tamper-evident seal is intact. Only use official cables and connectors. If unsure, contact support via official channels.

2
Connect to Computer

Connect your device using the supplied USB cable. Visit trezor.io/start in your browser to begin. Allow any required driver or bridge installation from official sources only.

3
Initialize Device

Choose Create a new wallet to generate a brand-new recovery seed, or Restore wallet if you already have a seed. Never share your recovery words.

4
Write Down Your Recovery Seed

Write the words on the supplied recovery card. Store it offline in at least two secure locations. Do not photograph, email, or store digitally.

5
Set a PIN

Choose a PIN you can remember but is hard to guess. PIN protects your device if stolen — it adds a layer above the seed phrase.

Important security tips
  • Always download official software from the official domain.
  • Verify firmware signatures before upgrading.
  • Keep recovery words offline — consider a fireproof safe.
  • Use passphrase feature only if you understand the trade-offs.

Why follow the official process?

Setting up the device using the official onboarding process ensures your private keys are generated securely in the hardware element — never exposed to your computer or the web. This is the single most important advantage of a hardware wallet and why proper setup and recovery handling matters.
